As someone who has a teaching degree, I learned early on how to repurpose my content for the classroom. As we like to say, there’s no use in “reinventing the wheel” so it’s important to learn how to take your blog content and use it for social media, Pinterest, and a newsletter, among other ideas. These are the best ways to repurpose your blog posts!
Social Media
My favorite way to repurpose my blog content is to push it to social media such as Instagram and Facebook. After every blog post, I always make a story showing my latest blog post with a link to send the viewer to my site. I also like talking about some key points from my blog by creating a post in my news feed for either Facebook or Instagram. This gives your potential client two ways to see your new blog content and direct them back to your site.
The more views and interaction you have with your blog, the higher you will rank in searches. Creating a reel in Instagram is also a great way to repurpose your content because one, it’s a visual representation of your work and two, Instagram is pushing more video content versus photos. But wait, what are some clever ways to post my content to social media? Here are my favorite apps to use:
Unfold: This app lets you take your screen recording of your blog post from your phone, upload it a new project, and add in text and other features. This is great for adding to your stories because your readers can get a quick taste of your new post in a quick visual format. There is a free and paid version, but I just use the free version.
Mojo: This is my favorite app for making reels, especially for creating videos from still photos! I use this a lot for my photography business. But it’s a great app for any small business! You can upload your photos and videos to make one video. You can use photos from your blog post or photos to represent your content and add in some tips to your video. Be sure to not upload all of the blog info in your caption – the goal is for your reader to want to read more so they will visit your site.
Canva: This is the best thing out there right now for designing content to post to social media, especially if you aren’t proficient in Photoshop or InDesign. And the best part? Canva is completely free!! They do have a paid version, but the free version has so much available content that you will have a lot from which to work! From posts to stories to everything else in between, the ideas are endless when working with Canva.
A lot of small business owners often forget about Pinterest because in the past it’s mostly been used to find recipes and outfit ideas for your kids. However, over the last five years or so, it’s grown to be a good tool for pushing your content and a lot of small business owners have gotten new business from posting on Pinterest. This is a great platform to push your blog content and get more visitors to your site. In addition to using Canva for creating your graphics, using the app Tailwind is great for scheduling out posts in advance. You can create five different graphics for one blog post and post one per day to Pinterest. This will get your content seen by more people and can potentially bring you more clients.
Newsletters and/or VIP Facebook Group
If you’re a photographer or wedding pro, having an email newsletter or VIP group on Facebook for your clients is a great way for them to see your new blog content. I constantly send out a new email to my clients when I post blog content to my site – especially if it’s relevant and/or educational information such as tips for what to wear to your family session or which invitation suite to use for your wedding. I constantly hear from photographers that they get more bookings from having an email newsletter or VIP group.
A great tool for sending out emails is Flodesk. Flodesk is really easy to use and customize and they have lots of beautiful templates for pushing content to your potential clients. If you have several posts that you want to email, you can schedule them out based on your business timeline. The company fully launched out of beta, but you can still grab their beta pricing here at 50% off for $19/month!
