As your business as a wedding pro increases, you may realize that you don’t have enough time to keep up with the extra tasks such as emails, blogging, social media, or editing if you’re a photographer. Or you’re like me and you have a family and children and a house to take care of that come first and you don’t just have time to do it all.
So the time has come to hire a virtual assistant to take care of some of these tasks for you. But you aren’t sure where to start or where to find someone to help you. But no worries! With this easy guide, you will be able to find a virtual assistant who is the best fit for you!
Identify Your Needs First
Before you start looking for a virtual assistant, you need to find out what you need to delegate to someone else. Is it your emails? Editing? Your website or blog? Virtual assistants do different types of work, and not all of them do everything. So make sure you first make a list of tasks you are looking to outsource before you start looking for a virtual assistant.
Start Searching for a VA
Since the start of the pandemic, more people have left their jobs in the workplace and a lot have become virtual assistants. This has given them the chance to work from home, but also the opportunity to work with many different clients and enjoy what they do for them. Every virtual assistant has strengths on what they do well. The best place to start searching is social media – most importantly Instagram. Using hashtags to search for a virtual assistant is good way to start.
Asking your friends for recommendations is a great way to find a VA. Word of mouth is one of the most popular ways to find someone. They can give you a first-hand experience of what it’s like to work with that particular assistant.
When you find someone who you are interested in working with, read their bio first. It will tell you what tasks they handle as a virtual assistant and what services they offer. Keep in mind that if that particular VA doesn’t do everything you are looking to outsource, you can always hire two different VA’s. However, it’s better to work with just one virtual assistant who can tackle your entire to-do list so you’re working with just one person.
But wait – don’t just read their bio! Be sure to click on their website (make sure they have one!) so you can learn more about them. Most times you can get a pretty good idea on their personality and who they are as a person just by taking a tour around their site. Visit their services page to see what their starting rate is before you send an email to ask for more information. After you fill out their contact form, wait for a reply to see which VA’s you’re interested in.
Schedule A Call
Whether it’s a phone call or a Zoom meeting, ask the virtual assistant about scheduling a time to talk. This will give you the opportunity to inquire about their services, their rates, and what’s included in their contract. More questions to ask include the best way to communicate, their favorite software and tools to use for tasks, and what drew them to become a virtual assistant. If you feel a personal connection after talking with them and they can take on your to-do list, then ask for some more information about working with them.
With these quick tips, you can find the right virtual assistant for your business! Are you interested in someone to manage your blog? Head on over to my contact page so we can start chatting about how we can tackle your to-do list!
